The origins of this ill-fated love story trace back more than two years when 20-year-old Badal Babu, a resident of Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, came across a Pakistani woman named Sana Rani on a social media platform. Their online interactions gradually intensified, drawing Badal into a deep emotional connection. As his feelings grew stronger, he became willing to go to extraordinary lengths to be with her.
Determined to transform his digital affection into reality, he devised a risky plan to illegally enter Pakistan. Utilizing the Attari-Wagah border, he secretly crossed into the neighboring nation. In an effort to assimilate and improve his chances of winning Sana’s hand in marriage, he embraced Islam and adopted the name Rehan, as reported by the Times of India.
However, his aspirations of a cross-border romance quickly disintegrated when Sana rejected his marriage proposal. Not only did she turn him down, but her refusal also left him entangled in legal complications with an uncertain fate in Pakistan. With nowhere to turn, Badal found work as a shepherd near Sana’s residence in Mandi Bahauddin. His situation worsened on December 27, 2024, when authorities detained him after he falsely claimed Karachi as his hometown and insisted he had no familial connections
