Mukesh Ambani vowed to make 4G available in every corner of the country, he shook India's telecom sector. Reliance's Jio today has a total base of around 448.5 million subscribers.
In its 46th Annual General Meet (AGM), Reliance's agenda would be to scale up its 5G game while also looking to monetize it.
This would make Jio significant in the Indian telecom sector which is set to cross Rs 10 lakh crore mark by FY25.
With its True 5G already being rolled out in as many as 2,300 plus towns and cities, Jio has plans to explore and complete pan India coverage before December 2023. In the previous annual report, the telco shared its plans to invest Rs 2 lakh crore and also confirmed that it has reinvested Rs 1.2 lakh crore in the group to maintain and develop operations.
According to the latest data provided by India’s leading telecom service provider, over 1,15,000 5G sites across 700MHz and 3500MHz bands are deployed with around 6,90,000 5G cells.
While all of this is known, the oil-to-telecom company’s Chairman may make a slew of announcements integral with 5G.
New packs: A price tag on 5G
Last year, with the onset of 5G, Ambani’s mission was to develop and deliver a robust and converged network experience combined with digital technology platforms for entertainment, commerce, communication, finance, healthcare, agriculture, and education.
However, this year, Asia's richest man would look to roll out 5G plans for the users.
Presently, under the “Jio Welcome Offer'' the telco is providing complimentary 5G services. In other words, its pricing is the same as that of the 4G packs.
