Mamata Banerjee on Thursday announced that a special desk will be created to offer government jobs to sportspersons who have brought accolades to the state and were awarded by the state government.
The state government also announced monthly Rs 1,000 to retired sportspersons.
Sportspersons, who got awarded today, will submit their curriculum vitae at the desk and they will be provided jobs by the state government," Mamata Banerjee said, adding that necessary laws will be passed to facilitate these awarded sportspersons.
Banerjee said it should be ensured that these sportsmen should not face any hassle in the process of getting jobs.
Altogether 322 sportspersons were awarded today and Banerjee said altogether Rs 6.42 crore have been spent to give awards to the sportspersons, Banerjee said today at the award ceremony "Khelashree".
The Chief Minister awarded the women's team who won gold in19th Asian Games, men's cricket team, sportspersons who brought prizes in shooting, swimming and other sports. Banerjee also awarded several winners of para-olympic games.
«We will give pension to 1567 sports persons and they will receive the pension from September 1 (with retro effect),» Banerjee announced today.
Meanwhile, Banerjee urged voters to exercise their franchise «to resist every idea of weakness» as well as to «respond to the call of the nation.» Taking to X on the occasion of the 14th National Voters' Day, Banerjee emphasised that every vote counts to build the nation.
