Reliance Industries (RIL) has appointed Ira Bindra as group president, responsible for people, leadership, and talent management at the oil-to-retail conglomerate. She is the first non-family woman and the youngest member to join Reliance's executive committee, marking a strategic shift in the company's approach to organisational transformation.
Bindra joins Reliance from Medtronic, US, where she was head of human resources and vice president for global regions. Her appointment was announced directly by chairman Mukesh Ambani, an unusual step for a company where senior functional heads typically make such announcements.
«Ira Bindra is a global HR and business leader with deep domain expertise across industries, geographies, and business cycles,» Ambani said in an internal organisational announcement reviewed by ET. «She has led large HR teams in Fortune 100 companies and successfully executed bold business transformations, from designing new operating models and creating new business lines to managing significant divestitures.»
In her new role at Reliance, Bindra will work closely with Ambani and directors Isha Ambani Piramal, Akash M Ambani, and Anant M. Ambani, as well as the company's executive committee. She will lead efforts to transform people, culture, and leadership practices.
