Robert Eggers is gearing up to spook audiences next Christmas with his much-anticipated remake of the classic “Nosferatu.” Scheduled for release on December 25, 2024, the film is poised to arrive in theaters shortly after the premieres of Disney’s “Mufasa” and Paramount’s “Sonic the Hedgehog 3,” both slated for December 20.
Eggers, the creative force behind this retelling of “Nosferatu,” has assembled a stellar ensemble cast, including Bill Skarsgård, Nicholas Hoult, Lily-Rose Depp, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Emma Corrin, Ralph Ineson, Simon McBurney, and Willem Dafoe. This interpretation, the second remake of F.
W. Murnau’s iconic 1922 silent movie, follows Werner Herzog’s 1979 version, “Nosferatu the Vampyre.”
Described as a «gothic tale of obsession between a haunted young woman and the terrifying vampire infatuated with her, causing untold horror in its wake,» Eggers’ vision for "Nosferatu" was unveiled in 2015 and initially tapped Harry Styles for a role.
Chairman Peter Kujawski of Focus Features expressed enthusiasm, stating, “The audacious filmmaking of Robert Eggers is always a gift for fans, and we can promise that his Nosferatu is planning quite the Christmas feast.”
Apart from directing, Eggers assumes the role of a producer alongside Chris Columbus, Eleanor Columbus, Jeff Robinov, and John Graham.
