Rohit is now the fourth Indian and the 10th player overall to score 11,000 runs in ODIs. The landmark moment happened in the fourth over of India’s chase of 229, when Rohit smashed Mustafizur Rahman for a boundary over mid-on.
Rohit reached this milestone in his 270th ODI match, making him the second fastest batter to do so in terms of innings played:
With this achievement, Rohit is now behind only Sourav Ganguly (11,363 runs) among India’s highest run-scorers in ODIs. Sachin Tendulkar remains at the top with 18,246 runs in 463 matches.
Meanwhile, Virat Kohli is just 37 runs away from reaching 14,000 ODI runs, which would make him only the third player in history to achieve this feat. Currently, Sri Lanka’s Kumar Sangakkara is second on the all-time ODI run-scorers list with 14,234 runs in 404 matches.
