After the arrest, Police recovered three gold bricks from a West Bengal village.
As per ToI report, the investigation, headed by Inspector Deepak Malik, began after businessman Sunil Aneja's complaint about the heist. Bhuiyan had entrusted with delivering the stolen gold bricks but vanished after arriving at the destination, leaving the driver stranded. Police filed an FIR and initiated surveillance to find the whereabout of the suspect.
Although Bhuiyan managed to evade capture in his native village, police uncovered that he was skilled in cyber techniques, employing his knowledge to avoid detection. Discreetly monitoring his digital footprint, police tracked his activities and kept a close watch on his relatives, friends, and girlfriend. The turning point came when Bhuiyan unknowingly contacted his girlfriend on Instagram on July 10, revealing his location in Dehradun.
Utilizing internet protocol details records, a team led by SI Vikram and head constable Monu caught him in Dehradun. During the investigation, Bhuiyan provided the location of the buried gold, leading to its successful retrieval of three bricks. Bhuiyan had sold one of the stolen bricks and bought iphones, MacBook, goggles, 35 pairs of branded clothes, etc, which have been seized too, Sain added.
