Salaar: Part 1 — Ceasefire' has stormed into the limelight, achieving a remarkable feat by crossing the coveted Rs 500 crore mark at the global box office within a mere six days since its release.
The action-packed film, directed by Prashanth Neel, has officially become the fastest grossing Indian film of 2023, leaving behind other blockbuster releases.
'Salaar', which commenced its theatrical run on December 22, has not only outperformed Vijay's 'Leo', Rajinikanth's 'Jailer', and Shah Rukh Khan's 'Jawan' but has also surpassed Prabhas' own past ventures, including the controversial 'Adipurush' and the 2022 release 'Radhe Shyam'. Notably, 'Salaar's' opening day collection in India stood at an impressive Rs 90.7 crore.
Despite a steady decline in collections post the long Christmas weekend, the film is expected to regain momentum during the upcoming New Year holidays. On December 27, 'Salaar' recorded a daily box office figure of Rs 17 crore, contributing to its current nett domestic collection of Rs 297.40 crore, as reported by industry tracker Sacnilk.
Prabhas, the lead actor, celebrates 'Salaar's' success as it marks his third film to join the elite Rs 500 crore club worldwide, after the monumental success of Baahubali and Baahubali 2. The film's global appeal is evident with an overall gross of over Rs 500 crore, making it a significant player in the league of successful Indian films in 2023.
'Salaar' features an ensemble cast including Prithviraj Sukumaran and Shruti Haasan in pivotal roles. The plot revolves around the deep-rooted friendship between two characters and promises an intriguing sequel titled 'Salaar Part 2: Shouryanga Parvam,' scheduled for release in 2025.
