Salaar’ is on a rampage at the box-office, with no signs of slowing down.
The Prabhas-starrer is crossed a whopping Rs 179 crore within three days of release!
According to the Indian box-office tracking portal Sacnilk.com, the Prashanth Neel directorial minted a staggering Rs 56.35 crore on Saturday and Rs 32.58 crore on Sunday. The movie collected Rs 34.25 crore in Telugu, Rs 16.35 crore in Hindi, Rs 3 crore in Tamil and Rs 1.75 crore in Malayalam on Saturday.
The movie became the highest opener in 2023. It dethroned it’s BO rival, the SRK-starrer ‘Dunki’ and earned over Rs 90.7 crore on the day of release.
Directed by Prashanth Neel (the director behind the moneyspinner franchise ‘KGF’ starring Yash), this action thriller boasts of a fantastic cast comprising of Malayalam star Prithviraj Sukumaran, Tamil actress Shruti Haasan, Jagapati Babu etc.
The film essentially revolves around the theme of friendship. It is about a prince who approaches a renegade, who also happens to be his childhood friend, after some attempts on his life.
The movie hit the big screens on December 22, a day after the Shah Rukh Khan-starrer released.
Although the Shah Rukh Khan film began with a relatively slow start at the box-office (in comparison to two other tentpole SRK-starrers ‘Jawan’ and ‘Pathaan’), the Rajkumar Hirani directorial stayed afloat in the next two days.
The comedy drama, which opened with a modest Rs 29.2 crore, collected Rs 25 crore on day three, thereby taking the total collection to a solid Rs 74.82 crore.
