BJP national spokesperson Sambit Patra on Thursday hit back at Rahul Gandhi after the Congress leader demanded a probe into allegations against Gautam Adani and SEBI chairperson Madhabi Puri Buch. Patra dismissed Gandhi’s statements, claiming they were a repetition of past tactics to level unfounded allegations against BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Addressing a press conference in Delhi, Patra said, «Today, once again Rahul Gandhi held a press conference. Once again, he showed the same behaviour and has put things in the same way that he has been doing. There was nothing new on the PC.» He compared Gandhi's statements to previous claims, citing examples like the Rafale issue in 2019 and pressers during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Patra also recalled that Gandhi had to apologise before the Supreme Court for some of his earlier remarks, implying that his recent claims lacked credibility.
Responding to Gandhi's statement that India has been “hijacked,” Patra quipped, «Rahul Gandhi is using the wrong tense. India had been 'hijacked' by the Gandhi family. So, it's in the past.»
Earlier, Rahul Gandhi accused the BJP government of shielding Gautam Adani, claiming a nexus between the two. Referring to the BJP's slogan «Ek hai to safe hai,» Gandhi alleged, «If Narendra Modi and Adani are together then they are safe. Nothing can be done to Adani in India. Here the Chief Minister is sent to jail, and Adani is roaming
