Saw X' with a box office collection of $2 million in Thursday previews is leading the pack of four major movies that have been released this weekend. It is followed by 'The Creator' with family-friendly 'PAW Patrol: The Mighty Movie' and 'Sony’s GameStop stock story 'Dumb Money'. If 'Variety 'is to be believed, 'PAW Patrol' may top the chart with an estimated $18 million to $20 million opening, 'Saw X' may follow it with an estimated $15 million to $18 million. However, some others have said that 'Saw X' may go as high as $20 million to $25 million, overtaking 'PAW Patrol'.
'Saw X 'is the tenth movie of the series in which the serial killer Jigsaw returns. Tobin Bell has portrayed this character. With a budget of $13 million, 'Saw X' should succeed over 2021’s 'Spiral' ($8.7 million opening) and possibly 2017’s 'Jigsaw' ($16.6 million).
'PAW Patrol' is based on a popular kids TV series, and it narrates the story of a team of search and rescue dogs who save the town of Adventure City. The director has used the voices of McKenna Grace, Taraji P. Henson, Chris Rock, James Marsden,Marsai Martin and Kim Kardashian. The first movie of the series came in 2021 with $13 million, it was also released simultaneously on Paramount+. With a $30 million budget, it aims to outperform the original.
Director Gareth Edwards has come out with an AI-controlled sci-fi drama 'The Creator', starring John David Washington. It may collect $16 million to $19 million. It may be a slow start for $80M production financed by New Regency. It has been released to 3,680 theaters including those with Imax, ScreenX, and 4D screens.
