State Bank of India is set to raise long-term bonds of ₹20,000 crore this fiscal via public issue or private placement of bonds, the bank said in an exchange notice. SBI is the country's largest lender and public sector bank (PSB).
Last week, SBI concluded the issuance of $100 million foreign bonds that are to be issued through SBIs' London branch on 20 June 2024.
In January, SBI raised ₹5,000 crore through perpetual bonds at 8.34% coupon. Last financial year, the bank raised an aggregate of ₹20,000 crore through the sale of 15-year infrastructure bonds.
Indian banks have been building up their capital base with other PSBs like Canara Bank and Punjab National Bank also planning to raise funds via debt this year.
