SC dismisses ex-JD(S) MP Prajwal Revanna's bail plea in rape case

The former MP has been remanded to Special Investigation Team (SIT) custody until June 24 by a Karnataka court on Wednesday, a day after he had been sent to judicial custody under separate charges.
The special investigation team (SIT) is investigating four cases of sexual assault against Revanna and filed a chargesheet before the Bengaluru court that hears cases against elected representatives.
The former JDS MP, who lost the recent Lok Sabha election as the NDA candidate from Hassan, was arrested on May 31, when he returned to the country after nearly five weeks in hiding. He is battling charges of sexual abuse of women after pen drives of explicit videos allegedly involving him surfaced in Hassan and other places days ahead of the April 26 polls.
Prajwal, a grandson of former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda and the younger son of senior JDS leader HD Revanna, had left the country after elections took place in his constituency on April 26.
