Supreme Court on Friday granted bail to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in the ongoing excise policy case. A two-judge bench, consisting of Justice Surya Kant and Justice Ujjal Bhuyan, delivered its verdict after hearing Kejriwal's plea seeking bail and challenging his arrest by the CBI in the excise policy 'scam'.

March 21, 2024: Kejriwal was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with the money laundering case tied to the excise policy. He became the first sitting Chief Minister to be arrested while in office. His arrest came after months of skipping nine summonses from the ED, which he had labelled «illegal.»
The case centres on alleged kickbacks received by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and its leaders during the implementation of the now-defunct 2021-22 Delhi excise policy.
