DK Shivakumar on Tuesday hailed the Supreme Court verdict quashing the money laundering case registered against him by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) I 2018. «Today is a happy day for me in my difficult life,» Shivakumar, who is also the president of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) said, after hearing the news.
«I have received a big relief from the Supreme Court,» he told the media, while offering his pranams to the court. The investigating agencies have been proved wrong, Shivakumar said.
The Dy CM added that he heard the probe agency was preparing to appeal the verdict, and he was also prepared for a long battle.
The CBI, he said, had continued with its investigations, and his associates were being harassed. “More they try to harm me, the more I will grow in politics," he said.
Shivakumar said he had always been high on confidence and sustained his fighting spirit. He retained his confidence even on the day he was sent to jail in 2019, he said.
The KPCC president had spent about 50 days in Delhi’s Tihar jail in 2019 in a case of alleged money-laundering. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) began a probe on his dealings after the income tax conducted raids on him in 2017.
Shivakumar had always maintained that the IT and ED cases against him were politically motivated and he was a victim of BJP's politics of vendetta.
