Sensex, Nifty record worst month since Covid market crash. A warning sign?

Sensex is down about 5% this month (till Wednesday), beating June 2022's record fall of 4.58%. One of the worst market falls in recent years was seen in February and March months of Covid year 2020 when the Sensex lost 6% and 23%, respectively.
With losses going much deeper in the broader market, the total market capitalization of all stocks listed on BSE has fallen by Rs 29 lakh crore in the month.
«A crash is unlikely in the present context since domestic liquidity is strong enough to support the market on declines. But a correction is certainly possible and we are witnessing a correction in the market now, triggered mainly by sustained FII selling,» said Dr VK Vijayakumar of Geojit Financial Services.
