The BSE Sensex was trading 160 points or 0.25% higher at 65,109. Nifty50 was trading at 19,355, up 45 points or 0.23% at around 9.32 am.
From the Sensex pack, Power Grid, JSW Steel, Tata Steel, NTPC, and Wipro opened with gains, while M&M, Bajaj, Finserv, Reliance Industries, and Maruti opened with cuts.KEC International shares opened 8% higher after the firm bagged new order worth Rs 1,007 crore. Shares of PNB Housing Finance also opened over 8% higher after the company said through its focused and multi-pronged resolution strategy, it has successfully resolved and fully recovered a large corporate non-performing account of Rs 784 crore.
Domestic markets also focus on the listing of Jio Financial Services. The company, part of Mukesh Ambani-led conglomerate Reliance Industries, was valued at around $20 billion after the stock price was set at a higher-than-expected Rs 261.85 in its demerger.
Nifty IT rose 0.83%, led by HCL Tech, TCS, Persistent, and Coforge. Nifty Bank, and Nifty Financial Services also opened higher.
