The NSE Nifty index ended the session 27.05 points up at 22529.05, while BSE Sensex fell 52.63 points to 73953.31.
In the Nifty index, Hindalco Industries Ltd.(up 5.04 per cent), Coal India Ltd.(up 4.47 per cent), Tata Steel Ltd.(up 3.85 per cent), JSW Steel Ltd.(up 3.67 per cent) and Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd.(up 3.39 per cent) stood among the top gainers.
