Shubman Gill on Wednesday became the top-ranked ODI batter after pipping Pakistan's Babar Azam. Gill, who scored two half centuries and a century in three matches against England last week, has 796 rating points to his name, which are 23 more in comparison to Babar (773). It is the second time in ODI that Gill has moved to the No. 1 position in the ODI rankings.

The 25-year-old opener scored 87 runs from 96 balls in the series opener played at VCA Stadium in Nagpur on February 6, and in the second match at Cuttack’s Barabati Stadium, he hit 60 runs from 52 balls. In the final match of the series, which was played at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on February 19, smashed 112 runs.
The Indian team will want Gill to continue his good form form in the Champions Trophy 2025 as well.
Apart from Gill, Shreyas Iyer has also jumped in ICC ODI batter’s rankings. Iyer, who scored 59, 44, and 78 runs in three ODIs against England, has jumped one place to become the new world No. 9 ODI batter. He has 679 rating points.
Indian captain Rohit Sharma has maintained his No. 3 position, whereas Virat Kohli is sixth place with 729 rating points.
