Sikkim Assembly Elections 2024: The counting of votes in the Sikkim Assembly elections 2024 began at 6 am today (June 2). An estimated 80 per cent of the 4.64 lakh voters voted in 32 assembly constituencies and one Lok Sabha seat, in polling held on April 19 (Phase 1). The counting of votes for the single Lok Sabha seat in the state will be done with the rest of India on June 4.

Counting of votes are being held in six places in as many districts of the state amid tight security. Results are widely expected to be known by about 2 pm.
The Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM), the ruling party in the state, is seeking to win a second consecutive term by defeating the opposition SDF. Others in the fight for seats include the BJP, Congress and Citizen Action Party-Sikkim (CAP-S).
Sikkim CM Prem Singh Tamang, his wife Krishna Kumari Rai, former CM Pawan Kumar Chamling and the former footballer Bhaichung Bhutia are some of the key candidates among the 146 contestants in the race.
