Snapchat is introducing a suite of new safety tools designed to shield teenagers from the dangers of sextortion, enhancing the platform's commitment to user protection, as per a report on CNN.
On Tuesday, Snapchat unveiled a series of new safety features, including enhanced warning pop-ups. These alerts will activate when a teenager receives a message from someone who is not a mutual friend or listed in their contacts, aiming to bolster user security.
The new features include expanded in-app warnings, enhanced friending protections, simplified location-sharing, and blocking improvements.
Teens will now see a warning message if they receive a chat from someone who has been blocked or reported by others, or is from a region where the teen’s network isn't typically located — signs that the person may be a scammer.
This feature will be made available in the US, UK, CA, AU, NZ, Nordics, and parts of Europe.
