Why is there no SSI payment in March?
The Social Security Administration (SSA) usually sends out SSI payments on the first of each month. But when the first falls on a weekend or a holiday, the payment is sent on the previous business day.
Since March 1, 2025, falls on a Saturday, SSI recipients will receive their payment earlier—on February 28. This means that while they are still getting their usual benefit, there will be no additional SSI payment in March.
Who is getting a $2,000 Social Security payment today?
This week, the SSA is distributing payments in two batches. The first group received their checks on Wednesday, February 26. These payments go to beneficiaries who were born between the 21st and 31st of any month.
While the amount varies depending on earnings history and work credits, some recipients are getting $2,000 or more in this round of payments.
