SoftBank India has elevated its investment director Sarthak Misra to a partner, per sources in the know of the matter. The technology-focussed investment fund’s India portfolio companies are also being informed of the same on Tuesday, according to people aware of the matter.
Misra, who joined the fund in 2019 from Matrix Partners India, sits on the board of ecommerce firm Meesho and business-to-business etailer OfBusiness along with working closely with companies like Swiggy and Lenskart.
A spokesperson for SoftBank India wasn’t immediately available for a comment.
Sumer Juneja, managing partner, India & EMEA, heads the India and Europe market for the technology investment fund. Besides Misra, Narendra Rathi, investment director at SoftBank Investment Advisors, looks at deals in SaaS and business to business (B2B) sector. Juneja has now been running the India investment team at SoftBank for more than five years. Both Misra and Rathi will continue to report to Juneja.
Excluding Juneja, the India investment team has six executives. Since last year SoftBank has not made any new investments in India amid the ongoing funding squeeze. The Japanese investor, however, has been clocking exits from its publicly listed companies like Paytm,
