Sourav Ganguly, who is considered as of the greatest captains of all time, turned 51 on Saturday. As the ace Indian batter gets ready to announce «something special» on his 51st birthday, social media was flooded with good wishes and birthday posts for Dada. Board of Control for Cricket in India Secretary Jay Shah was one of the early well-wishers to celebrate the cricketer's birthday on social media.
«Happy Birthday, Dada! May the almighty bless you with good health and prosperity. Have a great year ahead and I look forward to seeing you soon,» he wrote alongside a picture of the duo from happier times. Regarded as the 'God of off-side' by Team India head coach Rahul Dravid, the former Indian skipper made many spectacular contributions in the field of cricket and continues to do so as the Director of Cricket for Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Delhi Capitals.
The official Twitter handle of Delhi Capitals also posted a special message for the birthday boy. «Roles and times might have changed, but our love and respect for Dada remained the same,» the tweet read. IPL team Kolkata Knight Riders, backed by Shah Rukh Khan, posed an AI-generated picture of Dada and wished the Prince of Kolkata! Other IPL teams Chennai Super Kings, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Lucknow Super Giants followed suit and wished Dada.
Ganguly made his international cricket debut in 1992. His ferocious personality and strokeplay earned him the nickname 'Dada', and the captaincy of Team India. He was the skipper who took over an Indian team struggling match-fixing saga in the 2000s and taught them how to win no matter what conditions and backed young cricketers who would go on to become world champions collectively in future.
