Dalmia Bharat Sugar and Industries Ltd.(down 5.05%), KCP Sugar & Industries Corporation Ltd.(down 4.78%), Kothari Sugars & Chemicals Ltd.(down 4.04%), EID Parry(India)Ltd.(down 3.99%), Bajaj Hindusthan Sugar Ltd.(down 3.34%), Mawana Sugars Ltd.(down 3.00%), Avadh Sugar & Energy Ltd.(down 2.96%), Magadh Sugar & Energy Ltd.(down 2.71%), Ponni Sugars(Erode)Ltd.(down 2.66%) and Dwarikesh Sugar Industries Ltd.(down 2.56%) were among the top losers of the day.
The NSE Nifty50 index ended 178.36 points down at 23381.6, while the 30-share BSE Sensex closed down 548.39 points at 77311.8.
Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd.(up 1.61%), Bharti Airtel Ltd.(up 0.98%), Britannia Industries Ltd.(up 0.81%), Tata Consumer Products Ltd.(up 0.62%), HCL Technologies Ltd.(up 0.48%), ICICI Bank Ltd.(up 0.46%), Tech Mahindra Ltd.(up 0.42%), Wipro Ltd.(up 0.34%), Shriram Finance Ltd.(up 0.23%) and Tata Consultancy Services Ltd.(up 0.19%) stood among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.
