Tamil Nadu have not been able to attract a single student in the two rounds of counselling this year. As per a TOI report, out of the total 440 engineering colleges participated in the councelling, as many as 208 colleges have been able to fill only 10 per cent of the available seats.
The statistics highlight a concerning scenario, revealing that out of 64,286 students participating in the counselling sessions with scores ranging from 176.99 to 142 marks, only 35,474 were able to secure seats.
The preceding two rounds of counselling saw a total of 50,615 students securing admissions.
However, the ongoing academic year has witnessed an increased number of students partaking in the first two rounds of counselling, attributed to the reduction of counselling rounds from the previous year. Despite this, colleges have reported that the first two rounds have witnessed more successful seat fillings compared to the previous year.
According to career consultant Jayaprakash Gandhi, 41 engineering colleges with good infrastructure, advanced learning facilities, and robust industry interactions have managed to surpass the 80 per cent mark in seat occupancy during the initial two rounds.
