Tamilisai Soundararajan, the former Governor of Telangana, has made a significant return to active politics by rejoining the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Tamil Nadu. Soundararajan's decision to join the BJP was announced at the party's headquarters 'Kamalalayam' in Chennai, where she was warmly received by Tamil Nadu BJP President K Annamalai. She emphasized her commitment to serving the public through direct and honest politics.
«I am returning to direct and honest politics. Upon acceptance of my resignation letter by the President, I will inform the media about my future plans,» Soundararajan told reporters.
Soundararajan's resignation as Telangana governor was accepted by President Droupadi Murmu, who has appointed C P Radhakrishnan, the Governor of Jharkhand, to discharge the duties of the Governor of Telangana and Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry in addition to his current responsibilities.
The timing of Soundararajan's move is significant, as it comes ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, indicating a strategic shift in Tamil Nadu's political landscape. The BJP, which has been making efforts to strengthen its presence in the state, views Soundararajan's return as a boost to its prospects.
