Narendra Modi has said job opportunities provided by robotics, artificial intelligence, internet of things and drones should be tapped. Speaking at a meeting of the labour ministers of G20 nations in Indore on Friday, Modi said there should be more sharing of data, statistics and information for better formulation of evidence-based employment policies and plans. In a virtual address to the conference, Modi emphasised on skilling, re-skilling and up-skilling.
Over 12.5 million youth have been trained under the Skill India Mission and Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana, he claimed. «Special focus is being laid on industry 4.0 sectors like Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, Internet of Things, and Drones,» Modi said. Modi maintained that there should be more sharing of statistics, information and data regarding employers and workers as it would empower countries to formulate evidence-based policies for better skilling, workforce planning, and gainful employment. International referencing of occupations by skills and qualifications requirements done by G20 nations was commendable, he said.
It required new models of international cooperation and coordination as well as migration and mobility partnerships.
