Tata Motors' much-awaited Curvv electric SUV concept, unveiled in April 2022, left an indelible mark with its futuristic design and sleek coupe-like roofline. Fast forward to January 2023, when the Curvv made a near-production appearance at the Auto Expo, surprising onlookers with its striking resemblance to the original concept.
During the Auto Expo reveal, Tata Motors announced its intention to launch the Curvv SUV in early 2024, albeit with internal combustion engine (ICE) powertrains, a deviation from the original electric concept.
Now, insider sources have confirmed to TOI that the production of this coupe SUV is on the verge of commencement.
Tata Motors has disclosed its plan to offer the Curvv SUV with a 1.2-liter turbocharged petrol engine—a novel addition to Tata's engine lineup. Notably, the production version of the Curvv will feature conventional outside rearview mirrors (ORVMs), departing from the concept's camera-based setup.
In a recent development, Tata Motors has also filed a trademark for a land vehicle called 'Tata Frest,' hinting at the possibility of the production Curvv adopting this name.
Returning to the vehicle's production model, the Curvv, or possibly the Frest, is anticipated to maintain the same overall design and shape showcased in the near-production model from January.
Considering the recent updates made to the Nexon and Nexon EV, it's reasonable to expect that the production variant of the Curvv or Frest SUV will closely mirror the concept, retaining its futuristic features. This includes the eye-catching front and rear LED lights with dynamic animations and vertically stacked LED headlamp units, ensuring a captivating appearance for potential buyers.
