On budget's focus
The budget actually says several things about our path towards Viksit Bharat, it has focused on agriculture, rural prosperity, urban development and workers, and continues to lay emphasis on reforms across sectors. Six specified sectors have been identified where reforms will continue. Education and health have been prioritised.
The budget dwells on several things to help stakeholders understand how we are planning to take the economy forward towards the Viksit Bharat goal.
The Modi government is a very responsive government. And as a result, work is completed on the income tax law simplification within six months, as I had announced in July 2024, and we will bring a bill on it in Parliament next week. This budget also talks about a reduction in tariffs and simplification of the tariff regime.
As for agriculture, the Budget talks about everything from beej (seed) to bazaar (market) to add to farmers' earnings. There is also continued emphasis on MSMEs. Energy security is also given emphasis.
