Tejas Networks has bagged a ₹7,492 crore (about $900 million) contract to supply its latest 4G/5G Radio Access Network (RAN) for state-run Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL)'s pan-India network, spanning 100,000 sites. In a regulatory filing Wednesday, Tejas said it has executed a master contract for supply, support and annual maintenance services of its telecom equipment for BSNL's pan-India 4G/5G network with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS).
«As a part of this contract, the company received a purchase order from TCS for ₹7,492 crore (approx. $900 million) to supply its latest 4G/5G RAN equipment for approximately 100,000 sites,» the Bengaluru-based gear maker said in the filing.
The contract will be executed during the calendar years 2023 and 2024. In May, BSNL had placed an advance purchase order (APO) worth over ₹15,000 crore with TCS and state-run ITI for 100,000 4G sites.
Of the total, ITI will deploy 20% of sites. Tejas said it won the order after «successfully completing extensive trials» as part of a consortium led by TCS.
«Our cutting-edge portfolio of baseband and radio products will enable BSNL to roll out a scalable and cost-effective network that meets world-class performance and quality standards,» said Anand Athreya, managing director of Tejas Networks. Shares in Tejas Networks gained 3.40% to close at ₹842.80 on the BSE Wednesday, a day when the benchmark Sensex closed 0.21% higher.
