Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka today unveiled the Vote on Account budget for 2024-25, totaling Rs 2,75,891 crore.
Within this budget, Rs 2,01,178 crore has been allocated for revenue expenditure, while Rs 29,669 crore has been earmarked for capital expenditure.
The government has proposed Rs 53,196 crores for implementing six key pledges of the ruling Congress party.
This interim budget, the first under the Congress administration since assuming office in December 2023, allocates Rs 19,746 crores for agriculture and Rs 28,024 crores for irrigation.
Vikramarka criticized the previous BRS government, accusing it of leaving the state in financial distress due to haphazard borrowing practices.
«Nevertheless, we are committed to pursuing structured developmental objectives to assist our citizens,» he affirmed.
The Congress government aims to reduce unnecessary spending in daily governmental operations and limit investments in non-essential infrastructure.
«Our budget prioritizes holistic development, progress, and the well-being of our populace,» stated the Finance Minister.
Vikramarka emphasized that the budget is aligned with the Congress government's pledge to establish 'Indiramma Rajyam' (named after former PM Indira Gandhi) in Telangana, with the overarching goal of comprehensive state development.
He underscored that the central theme of the budget is the holistic advancement of Telangana.
