Dr. Venkatesh Movva, an orthopedic doctor specialising in Sports Medicine, recently shared his expert advice on The Ranveer Show podcast. He revealed which exercises are best avoided to keep your body safe and injury-free. Some of his suggestions might surprise you.
In a clip shared on Instagram, Ranveer asked Dr. Movva to list the exercises gym-goers should avoid. The doctor highlighted three exercises that are commonly done by those trying to stay fit or lose weight, but he believes they can cause more harm than benefit. These include overhead exercises, deadlifts, and crunches.
Dr. Movva explained, “Don’t do heavy overhead exercises, like the military press. Number two: avoid crunches. And number three: deadlifts.”
Ranveer suggested replacing the military press with front raises for targeting the anterior delts. Dr. Movva agreed but recommended a safer alternative: “Instead of going overhead, you can bend down and raise the weights.”
