Pamela Anderson has joined a growing list of celebrity women embracing the no-makeup trend, and Jamie Lee Curtis believes there's much to be gained from her example.
Curtis, aged 64, took to Instagram on Sunday to give a shoutout to Anderson, aged 56. She shared a photo of the former "Baywatch" star showcasing her natural beauty at the Isabel Marant Spring/Summer 2024 womenswear fashion show in late September, where she appeared to be makeup-free.
Curtis wrote, tagging Anderson, «THE NATURAL BEAUTY REVOLUTION HAS OFFICIALLY BEGUN!» She went on to express her admiration for Anderson's courageous and rebellious act of showing up without any makeup.
Anderson is not the only public figure who has recently embraced a more natural appearance.
In August 2020, Kelly Ripa playfully acknowledged her gray roots, and in March 2021, Katie Couric went makeup-free for a People magazine photo shoot, describing the experience as «liberating and vulnerable.» Justine Bateman, in an interview with «60 Minutes Australia» in April, shared her perspective on aging naturally, despite online commentary about her appearance.
«I enjoy the feeling of being a different person now than I was when I was 20,» Bateman explained. «I like looking in the mirror and seeing that evidence.… I believe my face reflects who I am.
I like it.»
Susan Yara, founder of Naturium Skincare and the YouTube channel Mixed Makeup, previously noted that Couric's headline-making photo shoot challenged the conventional idea that women fade into the background as they age.
Yara stated, «Men seem to thrive more when they age, and it should be the same for women. We become more confident and self-assured, and we bring wisdom that comes with age.»
