'The Outsiders' Musical: See when will it head for Broadway debut
The Outsiders,' and Francis Ford Coppola's 1983 film will have previews starting March 16, 2024, at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre. The official opening night is set for April 11, 2024.
Angelina Jolie joins the production as a lead producer, along with American Zoetrope, Olympus Theatricals, The Araca Group, and Sue Gilad & Larry Rogowsky. Casting details will be revealed later, and tickets for the general public go on sale on November 1. The musical is written by Adam Rapp with Justin Levine, and the music and lyrics are by Jamestown Revival (Jonathan Clay & Zach Chance) and Justin Levine. Danya Taymor is directing it.
The story unfolds in Tulsa, Oklahoma, in 1967, focusing on the lives of teenagers Ponyboy Curtis and Johnny Cade, and their chosen 'outsider' family, exploring the divide between the privileged and the less fortunate.
