Conan O’Brien is likely to return to The Tonight Show, nearly 14 years after his abrupt departure.
The 60-year-old comedian, who briefly helmed the iconic show from 2009 to 2010, is slated to make a guest appearance on Jimmy Fallon’s late-night talk show.
O’Brien is expected to appear on The Tonight Show on April 9th which is expected to coincide with the promotion of his latest venture, the Max series titled «Conan O’Brien Must Go”, as per a report by Pinkvilla. Fans will also get to see Nicole Richie and musical guest Benson Boone in the same episode with Conan O’Brien which has added to the anticipation of the late-night television show viewers
O’Brien's initial tenure as host of The Tonight Show was short-lived, lasting for only two seasons before he was controversially let go by NBC. The decision stemmed from former host Jay Leno's return to the program in 2010, which prompted O’Brien's sudden departure. The network's proposal to shift The Tonight Show's start time to 12:05 a.m., a move O’Brien opposed, ultimately led to his exit from the iconic late-night institution.
Expressing his disappointment at the time, O’Brien lamented the potential destruction of The Tonight Show's legacy due to the proposed changes. Despite the setback, O’Brien swiftly bounced back, launching his own talk show, also titled «Conan,» on TBS, where it enjoyed an 11-season run from 2010 to 2021.
