Supriya Sule, Baramati MP and daughter of NCP chief Sharad Pawar, has admitted that there is now personal and ideological distance between her and cousin Ajit Pawar following the split in the party, ToI reported on September 24.
This is the first time that Sule has made such an admission.
She, however, added that her respect for him will remain the same all her life.
It may be recalled here that in July 2023, Ajit Pawar vertically split the party, later garnering support from more NCP MLAs than his uncle Sharad Pawar.
On the split, Sule said that she did not like the way the «BJP misused its power to break the party».
Maharashtra BJP president Chandrashekhar Bawankule has apologized to Ajit Pawar for a remark made by BJP MLC Gopichand Padalkar, calling him a wolf. Bawankule also clarified that the BJP does not back Padalkar's views.
Padalkar, who had contested against Ajit Pawar in 2019, has been criticizing the Pawar family.
Rohit Pawar, an MLA from the Sharad Pawar camp, has accused the rival faction of using pressure tactics against their MLAs to switch sides.
