Despite mounting price pressures, retailers have been given an early Christmas boost in the UK as consumers show they are willing to open their wallets once more.
According to Lloyds Bank's 19 November recovery tracker, 12 of its 14 sectors recorded output growth, the highest since July. But energy prices are rising and companies are having to offer higher salaries to employees in a more competitive job market.
