MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) with search giant Google to set up the 'Tamil Nadu AI Labs' in Chennai.
The MoU was signed as part of the TN CM MK Stalin's 17-day visit to the United States to garner fresh investments.
«Say hello to what I would like to call 'Chenn.ai,'» Industrie Minister Dr TRB Rajaa said in a post on X (formerly Twitter). «With this partnership we aim to skill 2 million youngsters in AI via Naan Mudhalvan, collaborate with startups, and enable MSMEs and the rural economy. We want our youth to be a future-ready workforce.»
Rajaa added that on the first day of the CM's visit to the US, the government had signed six MoUs across multiple high-impact sectors, Rs. 900 crore in investments and creating over 4,000 high-quality jobs for the state.
These investments include Nokia setting up an R&D center in Siruseri, PayPal's AI-ML-emerging-tech focused development centre expansion in Chennai, semiconductor innovation with Microchip and Yield Engineering Systems at Coimbatore, an advanced AI tech development center with Applied Materials and Infinx’s tech centre in Madurai.
«We had some very interesting meetings today, and there is a lot more exciting developments in store for Tamil Nadu,» Rajaa said in his post.
Just minutes before he had revealed the Tamil Nadu AI Labs investment, TN CM Stalin had shared a post on X with pictures of his visits to the top tech giant's offices in San Francisco.
