ECI trends on Sunday showed that senior Congress leader Sachin Pilot trailed in Tonk while BJP leader Ajit Singh Mehta led.
Tonk is constituency number 96 of the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly.
In 2013, BJP candidate Ajit Singh Mehta won the Tonk seat by defeating Independent candidate Saud Saidi with a margin of 30,343 votes. The state is currently governed by the Ashok Gehlot-led Congress government since 2018.
He was the Chief Minister of the state from 1998 to 2003 and again from 2008 to 2013.
Part of the Gurjar community, Pilot served as the PCC chief in 2018 and spearheaded the election campaign in the state. Following the party's electoral victory, a power struggle unfolded over the CM position between him and Gehlot.

- Ultimately, Gehlot was selected to serve as the chief minister for the third term, with Pilot appointed as his deputy.
In July 2020, Pilot was dismissed from his roles as deputy CM and PCC chief after rebelling against Gehlot. The former deputy CM in an interview recently mentioned that the concerns he raised a year ago were addressed by Congress.
In 2018 assembly polls in Tonk, Pilot, a two-time Member of Parliament, had defeated Yoonus Khan with a massive margin of 54,179 votes on the seat.
