Oracle and another AI infrastructure company giving in-principle approval to join the network.
People+ai, an initiative by EkStep Foundation co-founded by Nandan Nilekani, set out last year to address increasing compute demand in the country, which is increasing with AI. The Open Cloud Compute (OCC) project is aiming for an open network where customers can discover the micro data centres, new players can build them, and investors can get on board.
Tanvi Lall, director of strategy at people+ai, told ET the company has in-principle approval from Neev Cloud and Oracle to join the network.
Narendra Sen, chief executive of Indore-based NeevCloud, an AI infrastructure company which is building a super cloud, told ET that they are going to support people+ai with NeevCloud's patented liquid immersion cooling technology. This way they can accommodate high-powered GPUs.
Apart from these companies, people+ai has spoken to a large electronics manufacturing services company with a great need for data storage.
“Running a few use cases for supply chain, logistics management, and data intelligence on a decentralised network of open cloud compute will work for them,” Lall said.
Oracle did not comment.
