IIT Hyderabad (IIT-H), driverless shuttles glide across the campus, silently showcasing India's strides in AI innovation. Funded by the Department of Science and Technology, TIHAN-Technology Innovation Hub on Autonomous Innovation- is part of a homegrown initiative launched in 2020 by students and faculty across AI, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, and Computer Science departments.
«We wanted to bring AI to life for our students,» says Ganesh Ghalme, head of the Department of Artificial Intelligence at IIT-H.
Much like in Hyderabad, India's top tech institutes are aggressively reshaping their AI curriculum. At IIT Madras (IIT-M) the newly introduced B.Tech and M.Tech programs in Data Science and AI reflect this shift.
«Our AI curriculum has less than 50% overlap with a traditional Computer Science curriculum, we built it to meet the industry's future demand,» says B Ravindran, head of the Department of Data Science and AI, at IIT-M.
