Parag Desai's life was tragically cut short at the age of 49 when he was attacked by stray dogs during his morning walk outside his residence in Ahmedabad on October 15. In an attempt to fend off the dogs, he slipped and fell, resulting in a devastating brain haemorrhage.
Despite putting up a valiant fight, he succumbed to his severe injuries while receiving medical treatment in an Ahmedabad hospital.
News of this heartbreaking incident has prompted a wave of empathy and concern across various online platforms. Parag Desai's untimely demise has raised questions about the ongoing issue of stray dogs and the potential risks they pose to the public. Tech Mahindra's CP Gurnani expressed his condolences, highlighting the importance of addressing the issue.
He suggested a national program for mass vaccination and sterilisation of street dogs and urged communities and municipal councils to take action.
The severity of the situation was further emphasised by a user who noted that India accounts for a staggering 36% of all rabies-related deaths globally. Additionally, India holds the unfortunate distinction of having the largest population of stray dogs worldwide.
