Vijay Antony’s daughter Meera committing suicide on Tuesday generated shockwaves throughout Kollywood.
As the actor and his family struggle to come to terms with the tragedy, an event from the ‘Saithan’ star’s past life, with tragic consequences, started circulating.
A verified Twitter user named DP Karthik — his bio describes him as a software engineer based in Pondicherry — with a following of 30K on the microblogging platform, claimed that Antony had lost his father to suicide at the age of seven.
Karthik posted the news along with an undated clip of the actor in which he can be seen advocating mental health and supporting emotionally fragile people to stop them from taking any drastic measures in desperation. The minute-long clip shows the actor-musician delivering a speech in Tamil, and urging people not to contemplate suicide even if they are going through a personal/professional crisis. In the course of the speech, he also opened up about his father taking his own life and how that left a life-long impact on him.

That's why I feel so sad when I hear about suicide. I know the depth of various crises in life. Seeing a lot of people.
