Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce had a rough night on Monday as the team lost 21-17 to the Philadelphia Eagles as Taylor Swift, his girlfriend, gave the game a miss due to ongoing “Eras Tour” concert in Brazil.
Kelce's performance was marred by a costly fumble within the red zone, a late-game drop of an easy pass in the fourth quarter, and an overall lackluster impact on the game. He managed only seven catches for 44 yards and one touchdown.
The 34-year-old has struggled to make a significant impact in recent games, failing to surpass 58 yards in his last three outings.
Moreover, he has fallen short of reaching 70 receiving yards in seven out of nine games played.
“I got to be better,” the Kansas City Chiefs star said. “Just not playing up to the level that I have in the past, I got to be better.”
In Swift's absence this season, Kelce's performance has seen a notable dip, averaging 41.8 yards per game compared to 108 yards when she is present in a suite cheering him on.
While Kelce demonstrated his elite capabilities with a remarkable 303-yard span across consecutive October games, he has struggled to consistently showcase his usual game-changing prowess this season.
Over his last three games, he recorded 16 catches for 116 yards and one touchdown, including a modest three-catch, 14-yard performance before the bye week against Miami.
Despite scoring on Monday, Kelce faced a significant setback when he fumbled at the Eagles' nine-yard line early in the fourth quarter with the Chiefs holding a slim lead of 17-14. Unfortunately, the Chiefs failed to reach the end zone for the remainder of the game.
