Türkiye has introduced a series of regulatory changes that relax work permit requirements for refugees and foreign nationals. The revised regulations, published in the Official Gazette, offer temporary work permit exemptions to certain groups, including refugees and professionals delivering essential services.
The Ministry of Labor and Social Security announced that the new rules will simplify the exemption process and extend the validity period for which specific foreign workers can operate without a permit.
Under the updated regulations, refugees and individuals under temporary protection in Türkiye will now be exempt from needing a work permit for designated periods. This exemption is available to those registered under the Foreign Application, Evaluation, and Monitoring System, with the Ministry of Interior responsible for overseeing the duration and scope of these permits.
The reforms also extend the exemption period for skilled foreign workers contributing economically, socioculturally, or technologically. These professionals can now work without a permit for up to three years, an increase from the previous six-month limitation.
