Tulsi Diwas is a day in the Hindu calendar dedicated to the worship of Goddess Tulsi. Tulsi is one of Hinduism's most sacred plants. People worship Tulsi Mata on this auspicious day, lighting earthen lamps, offering prayers and seeking blessings of the goddess.

Rituals
Devotees pray to the goddess by lighting a diya with desi ghee. Besides, sweets, garland and shringar are offered. Tulsi plants are donated on this day to temples as well.
People also plant a Tulsi sapling at home on this day, a practice that is considered auspicious.
By convention, Lord Shaligram is to be placed by the side of the Tulsi plant.
It is widely believed that Tulsi leaves should not be plucked on this day.
On this holy day, devotees get up early. Having taken a bath, they first offer water to the Tulsi plant and thereafter light a diya near it.
One of the main rituals is to circumambulate seven times around the Tulsi plant. People offer garland, flowers and sweets to Goddess Tulsi.
Shringar items offered include dupatta, saree, bangles, vermillion, or any silver ornament depending upon the devotee's wishes.
Then Mantras are recited and Aarti chanted as people seek blessings of the Goddess.
Significance of Tulsi Diwas
Tulsi Diwas has major significance for the Hindus. Many Hindus grow Tulsi plants in their homes. As per Hindu belief systems, Tulsi plant is the home of Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth.
