University of Texas at Austin (UT Austin) and Rice University in Houston have been recognized by Forbes magazine as being among the top universities in the United States, similar to the prestigious Ivy League institutions.
Forbes developed their own criteria for this ranking, excluding the traditional Ivy League schools and other well-known universities. Schools were evaluated based on factors like attracting high-achieving students, employer satisfaction, and admissions selectivity.
UT Austin and Rice University are joined on the Forbes' list by other well-respected public universities like the University of Michigan and University of Virginia, along with private institutions like Johns Hopkins University and Carnegie Mellon University.
This recognition is particularly significant for Indian students, who now represent the largest international student population for graduate studies in the US. Both UT Austin and Rice University have large Indian student populations.
