Uniform Civil Code (UCC) could potentially harm the religious freedoms of minority communities in India. As reported by ANI, the party's election manifesto reads, “AIADMK will urge the Government of India not to bring any amendments to the constitution for a Uniform Civil Code (UCC) that will adversely affect the religious rights of minorities of India." Under the segment of language policy, the party has urged the Centre to implement the Tamil language as the official language of the country, noting, "Tamil should be declared by the government of India as the official court language of the High Courts of Tamil Nadu by proper legislation." AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi Palaniswami said, "Our stand on the Uniform Civil Code is the same as that of the 2019 Election Manifesto.

In the last four years, the topic of a UCC has been a subject of ongoing deliberation, and it has recently gained prominence once again due to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's advocacy for a uniform law. According to PM Modi, having two separate sets of laws is not sustainable for the country, and he believes that the Uniform Civil Code is an integral part of the Constitution.
"Today people are being instigated in the name of UCC. How can the country run on two (laws)? The Constitution also talks of equal rights...Supreme Court has also asked to implement UCC.
These (opposition) people are playing vote bank politics," PM Modi had said while addressing booth-level workers in Madhya Pradesh's Bhopal. A strong political debate was kicked off in the country after PM Modi's statement.
