The Labour government’s decision to reject a local town (Oldham) council’s plea seeking a national inquiry into the grooming gangs’ scandal has been made keeping in mind the vote bank of the ruling party, sources familiar with the issue told ET.
The issue has recently been brought to focus by Elon Musk. On X Musk said “So many people at all levels of power in the UK need to be in prison for this”. Musk even blamed the current UK PM for the crisis.
“In the UK, serious crimes such as rape require the Crown Prosecution Service’s approval for the police to charge suspects. Who was the head of the CPS when rape gangs were allowed to exploit young girls without facing justice? Keir Starmer, 2008 -2013,” Musk wrote.
